boohoo group is one of the worlds leading e-commerce fashion groups. In 2006, Carol Kane and Mahmud Kamani identified a unique opportunity to give young people access to fast moving fashion trends at affordable prices; from an office in Manchester, and with just a handful of employees, they founded boohoo group. The group is home to some of the worlds most recognised brands including boohoo, Pretty Little Thing, boohoo Man, Nasty Gal, Miss Pap and most recently the group added the fashion labels Karen Millen and Coast to its stable.
At the time of inception, ecommerce was a largely undercapitalised market, but over the course of the last 14 years has seen phenomenal growth. With no bricks and mortar retail estate our ability to understand, connect with, inspire and delight our customers is totally reliant on our digital ‘shop front’.
Under the founders’ direction boohoo is now a multi-brand powerhouse that leads the fashion ecommerce market on a global scale – a proudly British success story.
boohoo’s growth was rapid and culminated in listing on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market in 2014. Since its listing, growth has boomed. Revenue as of February 2019 was over £850 million, and today the Group has around 13 million active customers. Despite the tough consumer environment, last year boohoo saw revenue growth of 43%. Its market capitalisation stands in excess of £3.5 billion, (compared to £560m on IPO); the business now being the largest on AIM.
