Richard Jeffery established GC Business Growth Hub – part of The Growth Company, a not-for-profit, commercially driven organisation dedicated to economic development, inward investment, skills, employment and enterprise – in 2011. Since then, the Hub has supported nearly 12,000 businesses, helping to create around 12,000 jobs and safeguard another 11,000.
He leads the Hub’s wide range of support services, which unlock business potential through opening new markets, driving operational efficiencies, sparking innovation, championing sustainability, developing diverse talent streams, and providing access to finance.
Richard established and leads the Hub’s digital, creative and tech sector programmes, including Greater Connected, Amplify, Global Scale-Up and the recently launched Creative Scale-Up programme. He also established the Digitalisation team that helps companies across all sectors improve their use of digital technology.
With more than two decades’ experience in developing, implementing and evaluating business growth strategies and services, Richard previously worked at various senior levels in the private and public sectors.
He sits on the Advisory Board for University of Salford’s Business School, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and chairs the Northern Powerhouse Growth Hub network. Richard received the Institute of Directors 2018 Director of the Year award in the Public and Third Sector category.
